-Merriam-Webster's Dictionary
Western culture is rooted in the belief that humans are the center of all things. Our needs outweigh the needs of the life forms below us on the food chain. My practice is driven by the problems and circumstances created by this idea.
My work investigates the ways in which we relate to the natural world. It asks us to consider the terms by which we draw and utilize the social and physical construction of boundaries that define and separate our living space as humans from the living space of plants and animals. It also challenges our knowledge of the natural world and the extent to which we can actually encompass and know all that lies within it.
